The AIS is pleased to announce new funding available in the Small NSO Infrastructure Grant.
The Small NSO Infrastructure Grant is a targeted investment initiative to support small NSO projects improve physical, organisational or technology infrastructure designed to support high performance programs.
Applications will be accepted from eligible NSOs from 28 October 2020 until funds are fully expended.
A total of $2.5m funding is available for this program. Sports may apply for up to $100k per project.
To apply for a grant, you must be classified as a small NSO and have received AIS HP funding in the financial year 20/21.
A small NSO is defined as NSOs that receive:
- Less than $1.5m AIS HP funding in FY21 and less than $8m annual NSO turnover for an Able OR Para program only*; OR
- Less than $1.8m AIS HP funding in FY21 and less than $8m annual NSO turnover for both an Able and Para programs*
What can the grant be used for?
Grants can be used for projects to improve physical, organisational and technology infrastructure designed to support high performance programs**.
How to apply
To submit an application for this Grant please email your submission to AISInvestment@ausport.gov.au.
The AIS does not require any specific template or format be used for application submissions. This is deliberately intended to allow applicants the ability to craft a submission that suits their project based on resources and information available
The only requirement is that submissions address:
- risk if not funded
To support applicants in better understanding the moderation process, the AIS has prepared a framework of considerations that will be used to guide decision making by the Moderation Panel. Refer to the “Assessment Considerations” document for more detail.

A panel of AIS and independent experts will moderate applications and make recommendations to the AIS Executive for approval. The Moderation Panel will convene monthly to review applications, commencing at the beginning of November.

*AIS HP funding is defined as all high performance funding (including Pathways and AW&E grants). Annual turnover is defined as the average annual turnover of the NSO over the past four years.
**Funds cannot be used for:
- purchase of land
- construction work
- ongoing operational costs
- repairs and maintenance
- projects non compliant with Australian standards
- equipment for recreation, purposes (except as part of a facility fit out)
