Children and young people have the right to be safe from abuse at all times, including when they are in sporting environments.
From 1 July 2020, Sport Integrity Australia assumed responsibility for child safeguarding for the sport sector. The suite of child safe resources the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) developed for sporting organisations is available on the Clearinghouse for Sport.
The ASC’s Child Safe Commitment provides insight into how seriously the organisation takes its responsibility to provide an environment that is caring, nurturing and safe. This is reflected in our participation in the National Redress Scheme.
As part of our commitment to child safety, the ASC has adopted the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework and publishes an annual statement to outline our compliance with the framework.
Play by the Rules provides training and support to organisations committed to becoming more child safe.
