Action-packed May at AIS Campus

02 June 2022

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) campus in Canberra and the European Training Centre in Italy were a hive of activity in May with a host of Australian sports fine tuning their preparations for upcoming World Championships and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on site.

The AIS campus in Canberra played host to the Aussie Sharks and Stingers water polo squads ahead of their departure for June's 2022 World Championships in Hungary.

The Australian Wrestling Squad fine-tuned its preparations for July’s 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games with a training camp and National Championships at the AIS Combat Centre.

It was great to host the women’s Boxing Australia squad which also unveiled the new national uniforms, designed by Paul Fleming and Brad Hore, which will be worn at the 2022 World Championships.

The Australian Men’s and Women’s Volleyroos held multiple camps across May, with the women taking us behind the scenes for a day in the life on AIS campus.

Members of the AIS Accelerate Program participants were on site to receive transformational leadership and career development skills as they advance their professional careers in the Australian sports sector.

The AIS also welcomed 32 women in coaching and executive roles to the Canberra campus to commence the 2022 AIS Talent Program which provides leadership programs for women in high performance sport.

Across the globe, the newly renovated AIS European Training Centre in Italy re-opened with Rowing and Paddle two sports who have already returned to use the facilities.
