The Australian Sports Commission’s Sporting Schools programme has opened a tendering process to engage an evaluator for Australia’s largest sports participation initiative.
The $100 million Sporting Schools programme, which is administered by the ASC and delivered in partnership with 32 National Sporting Organisations, underpins Play.Sport.Australia’s objectives to increase Australia’s sports participation. Since launching nationally in July last year, Sporting Schools’ growth has been rapid, with registrations received from more than 4,900 schools and 3,100 coaches.
Given the scale of the programme and investment, it’s vital that the evaluation process be rigorous and effective. Evaluation is expected to provide key insights that will determine whether Sporting Schools is on track to achieve its performance targets, which cover expectations about programme quality as well as broader impacts on participating school communities. Evaluation findings will allow for continuous improvement of the programme’s design and delivery, while also assisting Government in reviewing funding beyond its June 2017 commitment.
More information about Sporting Schools is available on its website www.sportingschools.gov.au.
