How do I apply for a Remote grant?
- using the SmartyGrants website
- using a paper form, then scan and email to support@sportingschools.gov.au
- over the phone on 1300 785 707
How can the Remote grant be spent?
Sporting Schools funding can be used to assist schools to cover the costs of delivering Sporting Schools partner sport programs in line with the program parameters and terms and conditions.

When can I apply for a Remote grant?
Between 8am AEST Tuesday 7 May and 5pm AEST Friday 14 June 2024.
When can I spend the Remote grant?
Across Terms 3 and 4 and inclusive of weekends and Term 3 school holidays, 2024,
i.e. 8 July – 13 December.
My school is in a remote area of NT or Qld but it isn’t on the list?
We are piloting this program to evaluate its effectiveness and trialling it with a smaller number of schools initially.
How do you know if your school is in a remote or very remote area?
We use the Australian Bureau of Statistics Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia Plus (ARIA+).
What sports or physical activities can we choose to deliver?
A list of sport providers is available on the Remote Sporting Schools webpage. Based on community need, consideration will be given to providers not on the list. Contact your Community Sport officer (NT) or regional Sport and Recreation office (Qld) for more information.
