General Manager - Luke McCann

The Corporate Division’s role is to build a contemporary and inventive Sport Australia that delivers unique value for Australian sport. It is focused on delivering Sport Australia’s strategic priority of a leaner and more efficient organisation, a strong workforce culture and improving the digital capability of the Australian sport sector.

The division plays a critical role to ensure the organisation has talented people with capabilities for our future. We position our facilities and sites for future success, invest in priorities that will make a difference, ensure that our digital capability underpins our operations and sector engagement, and our governance, processes and systems have been streamlined and adapted to enable us to get on with business.

Finance and Commercial

Deputy General Manager/Chief Financial Officer: Peter Dunlop

The Finance branch’s role is to drive strategic financial management across Sport Australia and foster the prudent management of financial risk. Specifically, the finance branch is responsible for: payment and receipt processing; taxation and legislative compliance; statutory reporting; treasury; management of Sport Australia capital and operating budgets with the Government financial framework; and ensuring a strong internal control framework is maintained around financial processes and financial systems.

Infrastructure and Facilities Services

Deputy General Manager: Luke Jansen

The AIS Site Services branch plays a key role in maintaining high quality facilities and specialised equipment, buildings, and office equipment in alignment with the strategic, capital and site strategies.

Key responsibilities of the branch include:

  • managing corporate relationships with NSOs for the use of Sport Australia facilities in Australia;
  • ensuring facilities and services are maintained and operated in accordance with relevant legislative requirements;
  • leading collaboration with other areas of Sport Australia to ensure that the Executive and Board decisions on facilities are informed by high quality, rigorous analysis;
  • and providing continued access to high quality sporting facilities by the Australian high performance system and Canberra community.

People and Culture

Deputy General Manager: Alison Halpin

The People and Culture branch supports Sport Australia’s strategic business goals by delivering a diverse range of functions in engagement and culture; organisational development; and human resources. These include culture and change management, workforce planning, talent management, staff development, recruitment, employment relations, payroll and health and safety services.

Business Operations

Deputy General Manager: Vacant

The Business Operations branch is responsible for driving efficient, effective and integrated technology and business services across Sport Australia. It plays a diverse role in ensuring that: enterprise decisions are informed by stakeholder involvement, information and data; decisions reflect the interests of our users and increase confidence within staff and the community; the organisation minimises duplication, waste, risk and is flexible to changing priorities.

It also works to ensure that Sport Australia achieves compliance with its legal responsibilities that staff have visibility and are clear on the strategic enterprise wide policies, and that systems are robust and support the diverse needs of our staff and stakeholders.
