Building a better world through sport

26 August 2021

Sport Australia Acting CEO Rob Dalton will discuss how a more active nation can drive pathways to podiums at the National Sports & Physical Activity Convention in Melbourne on November 10.

Mr Dalton will share how Sport Australia is providing opportunities for sport, local government and providers to build a better world through sport.

He will also address Sport Australia’s commitment to grow participation in organised sport and plans to build the capability of the sport workforce as highlighted in the Australian Sports Commission’s 2021-2025 Corporate Plan.

The National Sport Convention brochure details some of the program highlights, and you can find more information at nationalsportsconvention.com.au

The conference will also host the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards which recognises individuals, not-for-profits, commercial, play, recreation and sport sectors for their innovations to get more people active in the industry.

NSC co-founder Martin Sheppard added: ‘’The challenges of COVID-19 has only reiterated the fact we need to celebrate what our industry brings to our communities, providing them with environments to play, recreate and participate in community sport as well as programs, events and activities that makes our communities richer.”

“It is important that we celebrate the hard work we do, that many communities take for granted. We are expecting strong submissions this year, that will celebrate planning, design and provision of opportunities.”

Award nominations are now open with eight categories available to enter. Nominations close on 30 September. For more information visit Awards - National Sports Convention.
