Winter is coming and it’s time to warm up with winter sport

07 March 2024

The winter sport season is almost here, and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is encouraging more Australians to get involved in sport through the Warm up with Winter Sport campaign.

“Golf is a great way to have fun, make friends and warm up this winter. Head down now to your local club or golf facility and go play,” Golf superstar, Karrie Web.

The  campaign is a salute to sport, calling all Australians to get involved and revel in the sense of fun and community connection which is synonymous with winter sport in Australia.

The ASC worked closely with national sporting organisation, national sporting organisations with disability and sector partners to ensure the campaign reflects our diverse sporting community and resonates with Australians from all walks of life. It is a team effort to boost winter sport involvement from participants, coaches, officials and volunteers.

“Why not grab your skis and snowboard and sign up to your local club and warm up with winter sports,” Special Olympics Winter Games athlete Kristian Sandercoe.

Sporting superstars took time out from competing to jump in front of the camera, pass on their message and score valuable points for Australian sports trying to increase participation this winter. Keep an eye on ASC social media to watch the full suite of videos.

“Come play hoops and warm up with winter sports. Anyone can do it,” Aussie Basketball stars Nathan Jawai and Jenna O’Hea.

The campaign will be rolled out across the early stages of the winter sport season, with a call to action to visit the Get Involved page, where they can access registration pages for a broad range of sports.

We encourage you to engage with the campaign. Share it with your colleagues, friends, family and sporting communities. Together we can help more Australians Warm up with Winter Sport!
