ASC congratulates SAHOF scholarship holders

The sporting journeys of 32 of Australia’s most promising young athletes have received a major boost through the Sport Australia Hall of Fame’s (SAHOF) 2024 Scholarship and Mentoring Program.

Athletes from 28 sports will share in $150,000 in funding through the nation’s leading sports scholarship program, which is supported by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

The three-tiered scholarship program supports young elite athletes on their journey to excellence and success in sport and in life.

ASC Chair, Josephine Sukkar AM, congratulated this year’s scholarship recipients.

“The ASC is proud to support a program that helps elite young athletes from a range of sports including fencing, archery, athletics and more chase their sporting dreams,” she said.

“The Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program is a wonderful initiative that has seen great success with many athletes going on to represent Australia on the world stage.

“This financial support will no doubt provide extra incentive for young athletes to help them reach the highest level of their chosen sport, and I wish all 2024 scholarship recipients every success with their sporting endeavours.”

The Tier 1 scholarship recipients are: Torrie Lewis (athletics – sprinting), Jackson Harvey (mogul skiing), William Petric (swimming), Amy Lawton (hockey), Jacqueline Swick (rowing), and Mark Crosbee (canoe slalom).

Tier 1 scholarship holders will receive a $10,000 sporting grant to go towards their training and competition, as well as one-on-one mentoring from Australian sporting greats to help them reach the highest level in their chosen sport.

The 2024 mentors include four Olympic gold medal champions, a surfing superstar and one of Australia’s most decorated Australian Rules footballers.

10 emerging stars have received Tier 2 scholarships which includes $5,000 plus support from SAHOF over the next 16 months to help with their financial and other challenges. Another 16 rising stars will receive a $2,500 grant and support from SAHAF as a Tier 3 scholarship recipient.
