Paddles up! Dragon boating on board with Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools is proud to announce our 38th national sporting organisation partner, Australian Dragon Boat Federation.

From Term 3, 2022, secondary schools can book a Sporting Schools program to deliver the Australian Dragon Boat Federation’s Dracademy program. Secondary schools can choose dragon boating in their grant application when applying for funding, with Term 4, 2022 Sporting Schools applications opening on 15 August.

The Dracademy program is a fun introduction to the inclusive and growing sport of dragon boating for year 7 and 8 students. Dracademy develops and improves communication, stamina and perseverance through a unique and gamified program.

Australian Dragon Boat Federation’s Digital and Youth Director, Zi Jing Chu said, “Through dragon boating, not only do students get to participate in teams, but they also get to visit and explore their local river, lake or body of water."

The program develops a strong foundation in teamwork and water safety, paddling technique and a lot of fun activities through an introduction to dragon boat’s unique and culture centric model.

"Coming out of a long and arduous pandemic, dragon boating is the perfect physical sport to bring students closer together" Chu said.
