Golf Australia has launched a new suite of programs through the MyGolf Schools offering – Mini Golf, Pitch & Putt and Swing It.

These programs have all been designed with teachers in mind, providing simple and accessible curriculum, resources and equipment kits to be able to easily and safely deliver either a single skill or all golf skills at school, in a wide range of spaces.

The MyGolf School’s program is aligned to the ACARA curriculum with endorsement from ACHPER Victoria, for Foundation through to Year 8, with assessment rubrics provided to assess students against achievement standards throughout the program. More information on the curriculum manual and assessment rubrics for each year level can be found in the resources section.

The modifications throughout the games promote progression along Australian Sports Commission’s (formerly Sport Australia) Physical Literacy Framework to support lifelong movement and physical activity.

With the support of Special Olympics and Deaf Sports Australia, the MyGolf Schools program can be delivered to specialist schools and kids of all abilities.

The CoachMate App is also available for all teachers running MyGolf Schools programs, making it a breeze to integrate golf into your PE program – with easy-to-follow videos and ready-made plans and activities that your students will love. Just add-on to your program to get access information for free.

Mini Golf program (teacher-delivered only): Foundation – Year 8

A fun, easy and safe way for teachers to introduce their students to the sport of golf. This 4-session program focuses on putting and requires minimal equipment to deliver. It’s super easy to run indoors or out!

Pitch & Putt program (teacher-delivered only): Years 3 -8

A slight progression from Mini Golf, giving the students the opportunity to feel the joy of seeing the ball fly through pitching and chipping. This 4-session program can still be delivered in a relatively small space, with many of the activities requiring minimal set up and equipment.

Swing It program (coach or teacher delivered): Years 3-8

This program includes a variety of games and activities which can be run in various settings to introduce students to putting, chipping and full swing. The program can be run across 5 sessions, the final culminating in an on-course experience either at school, or at the local golf facility.

Swing it program

There is also an adapted Swing It program designed by Golf Australia in partnership with Special Olympics Australia catering for students with intellectual disabilities and autism. Coaches are purposefully trained to deliver in special education environments and to adapt activities to suit the needs of participating students.

With the support of Deaf Sports Australia, we can also facilitate an Active Deaf Kids program through Sporting Schools. To book, simply outline in the comments that you would like an Active Deaf Kids program.

.

Purchase the full or limited kits for each of these programs through our MyGolf online shop to get access to all the equipment and resources you will need to run the program, including the clubs, balls, game cards, certificates, scorecards and more.

MyGolf Schools can be accessed in all Australian states and territories. There may be some more remote regions in each state/territory that do not have as many of our external coaching workforce available and we recommend teachers deliver one of the programs after completing the online training. Additionally, the CoachMate App can help teachers prepare for fun golf activities in minutes with ready-made plans and easy-to-follow activities that students will love, and elevate your golf knowledge with tips, official resources, and insights into your progress.

Please first contact your state/territory booking coordinator if you are interested in a coach delivered program to see if they can assist in connecting you with a PGA Professional or Community Instructor.

Local club and facility visits are also available in most regions with golf clubs & facilities, driving ranges, Mini Golf facilities, simulators etc spread far and wide across the country.

Equipment

There are tiered equipment kits available for each of the programs – Mini Golf, Pitch & Putt and Swing It containing the minimum contents to run that program or in the higher tier, additional equipment to level up the fun and make it even easier for teachers to deliver. These will be available for purchase via the MyGolf Online Store from  Monday, July 8. The kits can be accessed by selecting an equipment kit as an add-on when making your program booking.

Equipment kits can be selected for Lower primary (Prep – Year 3), Upper Primary (Year 4 – Year 6), Secondary (Year 7& 8), Modified Secondary (larger club heads Year 7 & 8) or Plastic kits (Prep – Year 4). Prices range from $450 - $1,000 (plus postage and handling).

With easy-to-follow animated activities, teachers can deliver engaging and fun sessions every time, no matter their experience.

You can filter practice plans and activities by type of program or focus skill (i.e. Mini Golf, Pitch & Putt, Swing It), and learn how to run an activity in under 90 seconds. There are also some great tips and tricks available through the learn tab, providing coaching tips, program information and lots more.

Add it on for FREE to your MyGolf Schools program, to make it so much easier to deliver your MyGolf Schools program.

Program game cards

Physical game cards for each of the school programs (Mini Golf, Pitch and Putt and Swing It) can also be accessed that directly align to the sessions set up on CoachMate.

This enables teachers to use the App when planning their lessons and watch the videos to understand how to run the games and activities. You can then utilise the game cards out on the playground or in the hall when running the program, as a quick reminder on the equipment required, how to set up and modify the activities.

These game cards will be included in all equipment kits but can be ordered at no cost through the MyGolf Shop (from July 8) or downloadable in PDF form when selecting them as an add-on to your Sporting Schools program booking.

Curriculum manual & assessment rubrics

The MyGolf School’s program is aligned to the ACARA curriculum for Foundation through to Year 8, with assessment rubrics to assess students against achievement standards throughout the program. The curriculum manual with the assessment rubrics can be downloaded in PDF form when selecting these as an add-on to your Sporting Schools program booking.
