Molina Asthana founded not-for-profit organisation Multicultural Women in Sport.

Victorian Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence, named Molina as one of eight inspiring and influential women charged with leveling the playing field and driving change for women and girls in sport.

A lawyer by profession, Molina has served in high-level roles across the sport sector, as Chair of Gymnastics Victoria, Commissioner for the Australian Football League (AFL) South-East Commission, and board member of Table Tennis Victoria. She also served in ambassadorial roles for the AFL, Cricket Australia, the Commonwealth Games, and Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, and a Champion for the ICC Men’s T20 2022 World Cup. Molina has certainly proven herself to be a sport changemaker.

Throughout her career, Molina has been a powerful advocate for volunteering and diversity, championing women from diverse backgrounds and fighting to improve the sporting experience and increase participation.

Moving to Australia 19 years ago, Molina has firsthand experience of the challenges of entering a new community and how sport can help. A passionate long-distance runner, Molina was able to find her community in sport and has made it her mission to help multicultural women to do the same.

She founded her not-for-profit Multicultural Women in Sport (MWIS) to increase participation of women from diverse backgrounds in sport. MWIS partners with sporting organisations to help restructure game formats and overcome the socio-cultural and economic barriers holding multicultural women back from participation.

MWIS also advocates for grassroots clubs to be safe and inclusive spaces and for investment to increase wellbeing and belonging.

Molina, you are truly a changemaker, and we thank you for your ongoing support as a valued member of the Coalition.

The Change Our Game Ambassador Program is delivered through the Victorian Government’s Office of Women in Sport and Recreation.
