As we near the end of another outstanding year of sport, headlined by the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is calling on Australian media, sporting clubs and organisations to submit their best work as entries open for the ASC Media Awards.
The Media Awards recognise excellence in Australian sports journalism, broadcasting, production and photography and are the only dedicated sports media awards in Australia.
Media can enter at ascmediaawards.awardsplatform.com from today until Friday 1 November 2024.
For the first time, sports documentaries have their own stand alone category while the rural and regional media category has been broadened to give more opportunities to those telling stories outside the capital cities.
While the naming of the Lifetime Achievement Award has become a much anticipated element of the night, the ASC is pleased to now also be recognising the next generation coming through.
The Rising Star award will recognise journalists aged 30 and under or who are new to the industry for their exceptional work and will be selected from our pool of finalists.
ASC CEO Kieren Perkins OAM says the event continues to be an important occasion for the sector.
“It’s been an incredible 12 months in sport and the ASC Media Awards gives the industry the opportunity to reflect on the great stories that have been told and celebrate the people involved,” he said.
“Whether it be a local park in regional Australia, a packed MCG or the swimming pool in Paris, the media continues to play a central role in telling the stories that connect all of us to sport.
“The 12 categories reflect how Australians engage with sport and media, and I encourage all individuals and organisations to put their best work forward and be part of the 23rd ASC Media Awards.”
Finalists in the Media Awards will be announced in December and invited to a gala dinner in Sydney in February 2025.
All entries for this year’s awards must have been published during the qualifying period,
from 1 November 2023 to 31 October 2024.
